Fashion Forward

Omfg. I. Love. Fashion.

Not a new realization, but I will go months and months wearing jeans and t-shirts and no makeup, all because I just don't have time or energy to even think about looking good day to day. And then... lo and behold... I will stumble upon (sort of literally - on Firefox's Stumble Upon app) fashion photos and design blogs and what have you... and it makes me squeal and bounce up and down with a mixture of joy and frustration - I LOVE fashion, but I NEVER do ANYTHING to follow that love.

I don't dress how I want. I don't draw fashion designs. I don't take photos.

I'm so boring and lazy.

New resolution: I will make more of an effort to look how I want. I will wear makeup (almost) every day - at least some eyeliner and concealer. I will do laundry more often to ensure I have a nice selection of clothes to wear. I will remember to accessorize well with every outfit. I will be more fashion-minded, and my clothing, drawings and photographs will reflect this.

I feel better now.

(And if anyone gives a flying fuck, sorry I've all but abandoned this blog. I'll try to do better on that, too.)

  1. You and I had the exact same realization almost at the same time. Especially now that I am in Minnesota and all the girls here seem to be more "hip" and into fashion and I feel like that "jeans and tshirt girl from Texas."

A store I went to recently that had GREAT deals was Forever 21. I got these kinda odd-but-cool dresses for like $10. If you have one near you, I'd start there. It has SUCH an awesome collection from super high fashion to very casual.

And you've got the right idea researching photos and such. I've been watching some of those fashion reality shows and checking out magazines when I go to bookstores and then get my own sense of what's "cool" or "now."

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. Yeah, I used to shop at Gadzooks (owned by Forever 21) until they shut down in our dinky little mall. But Macy's and Dillard's are still usually pretty good. And really, if you have the patience to hunt, thrift stores can be god.

I found this really great site that compiles a bunch of fashion and design blogs, http://forum.lookbook.nu/directory. I highly suggest it.

Good luck in Minnesota - I'm pretty sure you'll have zero trouble fitting in fast.
